AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE
Purpose: To ensure that the Department of Mental Health (DMH) effectively provides American Sign Language (ASL) services, with qualified personnel to Directly Operated and Contract Programs/Clinics
Protocol: To ensure equitable service for all deaf/hearing impaired consumers and providers requesting American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation services for their clients.
Procedure: Business Hours of Operation: Directly Operated/Contract facilities can request ASL services by emailing their request to the following email address: ARISEAccessibility@dmh.lacounty.gov.
After Hours: Many Deaf or Hearing-impaired individuals may be equipped to utilize the California Relay Service (711). Others may utilize a video relay service. ACCESS agents must inform callers of these options if they are not already aware. More information to come for callers who are not already set up with these services.
